Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunities to serve at Canton Calvary Mission
1) Churches, classes, organizations, families, or groups of co-workers are needed to serve the Saturday Evening Hot Meal. This involves providing the food and preparation, set-up and clean-up. The time involved is approximately 4-8 p.m. We can help with menu ideas. Worship is at 5, with the meal following at 6:30. Choose 1 week each year to serve, or sign up for several. We have many open dates left this year that need to be filled from May to December. Please Call Jennifer (330) 454-8610 to schedule.
2) Cooks and Crew are needed for the Wednesday hot lunch program. Hot lunch is served every Wednesday. Kitchen workers would need to arrive at around 10 a.m. and will be done by 2 p.m. Food is provided by the Mission, you are just needed to cook and help! We can schedule you for each week, once a month, or whatever works with your schedule. Call Judi to volunteer.
3) Drivers are needed for Tuesday Morning Foodbank Drivers. We are in immediate need of folks who can pick up food at the Akron/Canton food bank on Tuesday mornings at 8:00 a.m. These persons would need to have a truck or large van and be able to help lift the cases of food. Food is brought to the Mission and unloaded and you are generally done before 10 a.m. We can schedule you for one week/month, every week or work out a schedule with you that fits your calendar. 4) Tutors are needed for the After School Tutoring Program, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call Darryl at the Mission to find out more or to volunteer.
5) Activity Aides are needed for the Calvary Arts Project (CAPS), which meets on Monday and Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Volunteers are especially needed at this time. Please call Darryl at the Mission to volunteer.
6) Pantry Workers are neede to ocassionally help stock shelves on Tuesday mornings. Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays to help with entering clients into the computer and to serve as personal shoppers. Call Judi to find out more.
7) Folks with special skills such as computers, carpentry, plumbing or electrical are sometimes needed. Would you be willing to have your name added to a list tobe contacted if needed?
8) Saturday Pantry is up and running! First Saturday of each month from 1:30-4:30. We need shoppers, greeters, and computer data base workers. Call Jennifer to volunteer.
9) Backpacks for Kids program. Time involved is Fridays from 1:30-4:00 to pack and distribute the bags. Please call Judi for more information on this exciting new program!
10) Middle School Program-Tuesday Afternoons from 3:30-5:15. Please call Darryl for more information!
